ABOUT

Perfect Stranger was founded in Carthage, Texas. The band evolved over time and was originally founded by Shayne Morrison and Richard Raines. When the trio of Steve Murray (lead vocals), joined Shayne Morrison (bass guitar), Richard Raines (lead guitar) joined forces, the band found success. In 1994, the band released an independent album on the Pacific label, entitled "It's Up to You." The album featured a song written by "Ridin' the Rodeo" by Vince Gill and Kostas.
The band's most well known single, entitled "You Have the Right to Remain Silent", followed and rose to No. 4 on the country music charts, and No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band was offered an opportunity to sign with major label CURB RECORDS. Fun fact, the song has been covered by many popular country artists such as the one and only CODY JOHNSON, and it is known as one of the most popular karaoke songs, too! Just do a search on YouTube for "You Have the Right to Remain Silent" and you will see how popular this incredible song has been through the years! Perfect Stranger is honored that this song is a part of their incredible country music journey!
The band was nominated in 1996 at the 31st Academy of Country Music Awards for Best New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year!
Original members Morrison, Raines and Murray briefly re-established in 2010 with new drummer Scott Zucknick and recorded new music, that was never released.
The very talented, and beloved Richard Raines died on June 1, 2013, at his home in Mineola, Texas. His spirit will always remain with Steve and Shayne. As they reunite they are surrounded by amazing professional musicians and friends that are sharing the stage, honoring the original sounds of the band, and Richard.
